Stats Watch

25.04.16 Our casework team has opened 171 cases so far in 2016.

25.04.16 There have been 102 deaths in prison so far this year, including 4 women, 7 young people aged 18-24, 1 homicide and 30 self-inflicted deaths.

18.04.16 There have been 10 deaths involving the police in England & Wales so far this year including one fatal shooting, and 30 deaths in 2015, including 3 police shootings.

20.02.16 One death in immigration detention has been reported this year; there were 2 such deaths last year.

11.02.16 There were 256 deaths in prison in England & Wales in 2015, including 17 young people aged 18-24; 1 child aged 16; 88 self-inflicted deaths; and 8 homicides.

11.02.16 8 women died in prison in 2015; there were 2 self-inflicted deaths of transgender prisoners held in all-male prisons.
