We are looking for a Research and Policy Officer to work with us to sustain momentum around the crucial, longstanding issues of state violence, structural racism, impunity and injustice, in the wake of the killing of George Floyd and the resulting protests. INQUEST’s work has seen increased visibility of these issues and our evidence based work has informed activists, media, NGOs, academics and others, and we are keen to maintain and enhance this important role.

The role will be crucial in developing new influential policy documents, taking forward new areas of research, and producing external communications materials. The post-holder will also support work with external stakeholders including bereaved families to reinvigorate work on key recommendations from the Angiolini review relating to these areas.

Due to available funding, this is a fixed term post for nine months working four days a week, or seven months working five days a week (there is some flexibility around working patterns). The post holder will sit in INQUEST’s Policy Team and will be line managed by the Head of Policy.

Job title: Research and Policy Officer, with specialist focus on state violence and structural racism.
Contract: Nine months fixed term four days a week, or seven months fixed term on full time basis.
Reporting to:  Head of Policy.
Salary range: £28,272 to £30,472 per annum pro rata (commensurate with experience), in addition to an annual 8% pension employer’s contribution and generous annual leave allowance. We are open to considering a contract on a freelance basis for an outstanding candidate.
Annual leave: 30 days per annum pro rata.
Hours: 28 or 35 hours per week. The role may require occasional out of hours working, for which TOIL will be granted.
Based at: Initially working from home, then based at the INQUEST Office, Finsbury Park, London N4.
